Points
How well you do in one round can affect how well you do in the next
When a round ends, the leading players will receive scoring points. These points accummulate over time. Players who have points can use the points to generate game cash. Each point is equal to $100,000. Once a point is used, it disappears and cannot be used again. This means, players who have done well in the past need not start from scratch each round. They can use the points that they have to start a round as a wealthy player, or they can use the points that they have during a round to replenish their game cash, if they prefer not to buy a restart. Since the most the number of points a player can receive at the end of a round is 10, it is not worthwhile to use more than 10 per round. A longer term goal in the game is to establish a points trading system. The idea is to allow players to buy and sell points in a real market using real money. This means players who have accummulated a lot of points can sell one or more of their points and make money whilst playing the game; and players who want to buy points to play the game as wealthy players can do so. A point is essentially a commodity. So the trading system might work along the lines of a commodities exchange or a stockmarket with bids and offers, market depth and a market price. It should be said that the number of points in circulation is finite. The number may increase or decrease as time passes: on the one hand, at the end of every round 55 points will enter the system; on the other, players use up points during a round to raise game cash. This means the number of points in total can fluctuate. Since both the demand and supply of points can change, the price of a point should fluctuate. It should be said that a number of issues have to be sorted out before a points trading system can be introduced. The idea of points means that the world that the game is played in, in effect, is a persistent world. How well you do in one round can affect how well you do in the next. |
